Tranquil Garden Hampstead

Gold medal-winning designer Andy Sturgeon created a stunning contemporary outdoor space out of this tiny rear garden. Clear-grade Western Red Cedar was used for the decking, which incorporated an inset trap door for hidden storage. The three boundary walls cleverly featured a variety of textures and surfaces – powder-coated steel, acrylic sheeting and slatted Western Red cedar panels. The benches, topped with cedar, also provided storage space within, and featured hinged lids. One is laid onto a sliding track for greater flexibility. In the evenings, integrated lighting illuminates the acrylic panels, the circular cut-out and the elegant planting scheme.
