We could not be happier with the work of Neil and his team at Garden Builders. During the design stage, Neil perfectly understood what we were looking for, and came up with a great design that really exceeded our expectations, while being open to feedback during creative iterations. The budget was totally clear and fair and turned out to be spot on. A few weeks after design was finalised, the team started the works – they proved to be very skilled, friendly, organised, pro active, efficient and professional – which made the works go smoothly and pleasantly. We were kept informed of any challenges and were able to adapt some of the designs as we went and appreciated their flexibility. The brief was to design and build a new garden that involved extending my existing decking, replacing the worn-out grass with artificial turf, and planting, as well as lighting and irrigation. Ricky did a superb job creating a garden that looks amazing, with a simple and clean design that should be easy to maintain. The suggestions were all great, and they didn’t try to up-sell me things I didn’t need. We used the Garden Builders to landscape our garden at the end of last year. They are an exceptional company, and are not only meticulous in whatever they do, but won’t rest until it’s done to the client’s satisfaction. Ricky drew up our plan, but was also open to tweaking it to suit our personal case. There was no prima donna “this is my plan and that’s what you’re going to have, like it or not” mentality. In fact, Ricky was fantastic in that he visited the site every week, and was always at the end of the phone, replying to messages almost immediately! I’m other words, once money had changed hands, that was most certainly not where the service ended… Ricky took our project so seriously from start to finish, and now we have a garden which we utterly adore, and has married up our new extension with the studio at the end of the garden, perfectly. The ultimate test to anyone considering using the Garden Builders – if we had to do it all over again, we would not go with anyone else! A stunning end result, which guests have likened to both a Kew and Chelsea flower show type garden!

We could not recommend The Garden Builders more highly and especially our foreman Velko. Neil was a pleasure to work with as was Darryl their charming electrician. The team are hard working professionals and all really cared that we were happy and that the job was finished to a high standard. The garden needed levelling and they had to move an immense amount of soil through the house which they did neatly and with consideration. And above all, we admit we are fairly particular, and Velko’s attention to detail surpassed our expectations entirely especially with the perfection of the trellising and the stone paving. We had extensive hard and soft landscaping work done in our garden by Garden Builders during Oct-Nov 2019 (by Ricky and his team of builders, led by Velko). They were recommended to us by our garden designer as well a colleague. The work they produced, and the process by which it was delivered, exceeded our expectations. The team of builders and electricians were always on time, worked in a diligent, careful and clean manner (we were living in the premises during the works). They kept to proposed time frames and any deviations from agreed costs were explained and discussed in advance. Their prices are not cheap but we think they deliver quality work. It was a challenging site – involving hoisting all the materials up the side and keeping all the residents happy. They were utterly professional – respectful of my clients apartment, really good attention to detail and on top of all this really nice! The Garden Builders transformed our tired and depressing back garden into an elegant, welcoming space with a discrete but effective drainage system. Designer Mark Gilmore inspired confidence immediately. He studied the area carefully and took time to discuss our ideas and problems with the garden which included eliminating odd levels on the old patio that reduced its practicality. We were delighted with Mark’s design and advice including the kind of stone that would best suit our needs, taste and budget. We also very much appreciated the initiative he took in having an outdoor portaloo brought onsite so the garden building team (who clearly travelled to and from work wearing masks) would not need to step into the house. The installation was headed by the ever cheerful Lyuben. Lyuben and his team always arrived on time, worked very hard and left the area clean and tidy at the end of each day. He kept us informed at each stage of the operation and the entire team was polite and considerate. All remnants of the build including portaloo were removed as soon as the project was complete. This is a highly professional and well-run operation. Five stars.

The garden builders have just completed the rebuilding of my garden and the result is phenomenal. Here are the reasons why I would recommend them and would absolutely re-use their services:

Attention to details: everything they do is thought through and they go to great lengths to have a perfect result. For example, they even cut some of the wood of the decking in width to go above pipes and fit tightly around the house.

Expert advice: I did go with their suggestions and I am soooo glad I did so

Flexibility: I changed my mind on the length of the deck when it was almost done. I was expecting a bit of push back from the team but actually they simply said: “no problem. here’s how we will do it. It’s all fine”.

Client service: the preparation work was great and detailed and throughout the project Ricky was always available to answer questions. Even now that the garden is finished, I am still in contact with Ricky with regards to plants maintenance. I am impressed!

Trustworthy: I have got to say that I don’t like giving access to my house. Yet I did it with the team and I was amazed at how respectful they were. For example they always removed their shoes before getting in the house. After a while I was even trusting them with access to the house when I was not around and they were great. I could absolutely carry on with more reasons why I would absolutely recommend to use The Garden Builders’ services and especially Ricky, Parmen and the team.

Neil and his team did a fantastic job transforming our dull and grey terrace on the fourth floor of a new development in a busy part of Central London into a restful and private oasis of greenery and calm. They worked through our design requirements intelligently and with vision, and coordinated all the different aspects of the project: custom planters, screens, built-in benches, storage, outdoor furniture, automatic irrigation system, choice and supply of plants and trees, outdoor lighting, cantilevered parasol, green walls… It’s all come together now into a flowing and practical space that offers an indoor/outdoor connection with our apartment. The Garden Builders were recommended by our designer, and although not the cheapest, you get what you pay for. The on site team were considerate and responsive and given the logistical difficulties of the build (a 7th floor roof terrace in central London), completed the task in the time agreed and with a minimum of disruption. The result is of very high quality, even though we had one issue with a scratched water feature, it was resolved very quickly and without argument. Neil was also very good at advising about slight variations and adaptations we made to the plans and planting as we went along. We would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others.

We used The Garden Builders for our significant landscaping job in 2022 and could not be more thrilled with the result. We had our garden designed (rough drawings only, no technical info) elsewhere but implemented by the Garden builders. Ricky ran the project for us with his foreman Elenko with the utmost professionalism. The work was incredibly messy – digging up a 20m x 15m garden in central London which they had to take through the house (no side entrance). The disturbance to us was minimal and they kept everything very clean considering the traffic through the house. They built the kitchen area from scratch with built in cupboards and a beautiful shed also. Other skilful aspects of the work included gas fitted fire bowl and sinking of a hot tub whilst maintaining access to it, as well as a full irrigation system. Any time a problem came up Ricky and his team were ever helpful and produced innovative solutions that did not compromise on the design of the build. Furthermore, they helped us with the planting and managed to convince me to go for more seasonality in the plants whilst still providing screening / privacy for us. This advise was invaluable and we really do enjoy seeing the garden change with the seasons. It’s been nearly a whole year since the garden was completed and we are still in love with it. Since the build I have found the team incredibly responsive and helpful if any snagging or problems have arisen. Overall, I cannot recommend the garden builders highly enough.
