This lovely, large family garden in North London was designed by the garden landscaper, The Garden Builders. It offers free flowing curves and spiral shapes worked with several of the hard and soft landscape design elements. This garden design was initially built in 2013, but due to a new extension being constructed at the property, the client asked The Garden Builders to return to re-design the terrace by the house. GARDEN LANDSCAPE DESIGNER NORTH LONDON.
This garden landscape consisted of a very heavy clay soil so it was vital that good land drainage was introduced from the outset. This factor was especially important in the main lawn area in order to give the client the lush healthy, natural lawn they desired. Smart stepping stones in this landscape garden are cut from varied widths of natural buff sawn York Stone are inlaid into the ‘sweeping’ edge of the lawn supplying an effective contrast with the lush green grassy surface. The curve is additionally defined by approx. 300 miniature box hedging plants which form a neat clipped edge along the line of the planting bed, main terrace and lawn. This garden design idea has a further 30 linear metres of mature Ligustrum hedging was incorporated.

Along the garden boundaries to screen the existing timber fencing. The same smart sawn York stone was used to create the main dining terrace area, which incorporated a jet cut circle kit that linked seamlessly with the custom made curved water feature. Made from high grade stainless steel, the eight metre long water rill flowed on two levels with miniature water fall and was decoratively lined with polished yellow river pebbled at the base. The new terrace had to tie up with the existing garden and to incorporate large format 1x1m porcelain paving tiles and a sunken swimming hot tub/swimming pool. The sunken swimming pool required construction of a retaining wall approximately 1 metre away and surrounds to the pool to maintain maintenance access.

TERRACE GARDEN DESIGNER NORTH LONDON.
The newly installed terrace creates a larger and vast space for dining and entertaining. Finally, a new addition to this garden design was the two new mirror polished stainless steel water feature balls that decorate the terrace on one side. Within this garden design, behind the annex building was a second York stone terrace, this time for barbecuing and lounging out ‘whatever the weather’ with its overhead retractable awning. A beautiful main feature in this landscape garden is the octagonal timber built gazebo with integral bench seating and overhead heaters. The floor of the summerhouse features a unique spiral design formed from an attractive, coloured resin bound material split by neat curving lines of aluminium.
