Garden Designer Wandsworth

Garden designed and constructed by The Garden Builders

Wandsworth Green Walls

The Garden Builders were commissioned to design and build a terrace to enhance a small well-loved garden in Wandsworth.

The bright terrace was built from composite decking from Millboard and was installed on a composite Plas Pro subframe on adjustable pedestals. On one end of the terrace an artificial green wall from VistaGreen® was used as a decorative screen. The use of an artificial green wall allowed the vibrant green of the whole garden to extend to the terrace. To complement the tone of decking Western Red Cedar battens in a horizontal slatted design were placed above and below to extend the screen and add extra privacy. By placing horizontal slats, it contrasts to the direction of the deck while lengthening the terrace to the eye.

Leading from the terrace to the main garden a raised bed was constructed out of block-work clad with Design Clad from London Stone. Smooth porcelain paving copings were chosen to add a change of texture and allow for another tone of green to this vivid garden. To create an eating area a built-in bench was designed to add extra seating and provide a quirky alternative to the traditional outdoor table and chairs.

The beds were planted with low evergreen planting and box balls. Allowing the owners to have greenery on the terrace without restricting the view of the rest of the garden. The raised beds were completed with carex morrowii grass giving a different shade and height to the bed.

To the left of the terrace The Garden Builders designed and built a bespoke built-in outdoor kitchen unit. A powder coated aluminium base with stone countertop, a backsplash panel and a Napoleon grill was incorporated into the terrace offering a sleek and stylish outdoor cooking area. Discrete shelving and storage were incorporated offering space to contain all the BBQ essentials outside so the owners could enjoy easy Al Fresco dining at any time. Finishing the outdoor kitchen area an existing boundary wall was clad with new stone and an additional shelf to give a rustic kitchen feel while blending in with the colours of the terrace.
