Garden Builders have yet again; won Gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. We have been honoured to be working with Tom Hoblyn & Boodles to showcase another fantastic garden. Garden Builders have been ever present at the RHS Chelsea Flower show since 2009 and therefore we are very excited to be working with Tom & Boodles again on another garden instalment. This will be one of two gardens that Garden Builders will be working on this year, Ruth Willmott’s Morris & Co. Garden being the other garden we are contracted to. This garden has also won Gold at the show!

In 1962, 60 years ago, Anthony Wainwright, father to the current chairman of Boodles travelled around the world in just 16 days. The Boodles Travel Garden is a garden to celebrate this incredible endeavour with planting drawn from all corners of the world, creating a global garden, which offers a calm sanctuary to rest and reflect on the journey.

Planting with interesting form and habit has been chosen and includes potted Cyathea cooperii, native to India with stunning bark pattern, Cornus controversa from East Asia, with horizontal habit and Acer davidii from China with its striped bark. Below the structural planting is a woodland stumpery-style underplanting which follows the gently flowing water path, marked with a trail of blue and burnt orange planting of Iris sib Caesars Brother and Primula bulleyana creating the illusion of movement and journey. The mounded beds partially obscure views to evoke scale and discovery.

Tom is delighted to continue his relationship with Boodles & Garden Builders.

In 2021; he designed the highly acclaimed Boodles Secret Garden, inspired by the well-loved children’s story by Frances Hodgson-Burnett. Below you will see that Tom, Boodles and Garden Builders had come together to design, sponsor and implement.











Tom is a British landscape designer, horticulturist and gardener who set up his practice shortly after graduating from The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. His work is underpinned by his innate understanding and knowledge as a plantsman and horticultural master, and an appreciation and awareness of place in the landscape. An established figure at both RHS Chelsea and RHS Hampton Court, he has won three gold and five silver gilt and two silver medals including the coveted People’s Choice Award for his Arthritis UK Garden and a nomination for The People’s Choice of The Decade Award in 2020.

Here at Garden Builders, we take great pride in what we do. We have been experts in garden landscaping for nearly 25 years now, celebrating Garden Builders 25 year anniversary in 2023. This will the 12th Garden that Garden Builders have been contracted for the RHS Chelsea Flower show and we do not plan to stop there. With countless awards that we have been honoured with; we want to continue to strive for excellence and that is what we will do.
